Kumja is a sustainable product

It saves the purchase of new jackets and is often passed on or sold after a limited period of use. Through the modular adapter system, Kumja continuously adapts to new owners and jackets.

This is both ecologically and economically sensible.

The company must remain sustainable

For many years, we were quite relaxed, but with increasingly warmer winters, a growing second-hand market, and the aftereffects of Corona, we must act sustainably as a company. This is not about profit maximization, but about continuing to exist. If we no longer exist, the know-how and thus Kumja as a system are lost (no one will quickly take over or replicate the effort we put in).

We are constantly refining the adapter selection and have developed a sophisticated system to find the right adapters for jackets. Using a combination of matching with our database and the manual selection of the adapter (checking information, reviewing photos, possibly making inquiries if information is not plausible, free exchange of adapters, etc.), we provide an intensive service.

We can no longer offer this service for free. Our know-how and extensive support are therefore reserved for purchasing customers from now on.

Second-hand options

We are planning a paid adapter inquiry and/or a take-back or rental program to enable the sustainable passing on of the jacket extension without going bankrupt.

We cannot implement these steps in the short term, so there is currently no alternative to buying adapters from us.

Tips for Used Purchases

It is still possible to buy and sell Kumja adapters second-hand.

For an adapter to fit, several criteria must match, including:

  • The number of sliders
  • The side of the sliders
  • The zipper type (construction)
  • The size

However, the zipper type is not always clear, and the size is not always readable on the slider (sizes 3, 5, 8, 10).

Important to understand:

Zippers are not standardized. Our 14 years of know-how combined with extensive service and support (free exchange even when incorrect information was given, advice on long jackets, tips on how to make it fit in case of problems, etc.) result in a high success rate.

Tip for Sellers

Provide detailed photos of the jacket zipper for which the adapter fits and where all the above-mentioned features are recognizable.

Tip for Buyers

Compare your jacket’s zipper with the photos. If all the features match, it is likely to fit.

Or: buy directly from us if you want to save time, possibly additional costs, and effort.
